We have wanted to change the flooring in downstairs for a while and we finally decided to get an engineered distressed oak floor from UK Flooring Direct. The boards at 1.9m long and have a great texture to them. They are also not lacquered, they are waxed so they dont have a shiny surface. I pulled up all of the old carpet, underlay and flooring and then Dad and I started by laying down the gold underlay before fitting the new flooring. We glued all of the joints and tried to line them all up with a 3 board pattern. We did in the kitchen, utility room, toilet, under the stairs and then the hallway. It really brightens up the rooms and it looks amazing.
